Hey! I am Laura and this is MY FIRST BLOG...just seeing those three words in print makes my stomach turn to knots! If you would have told me even just a year ago that this would be part of my life, I would have laughed! But you see, I had been praying specifically for the Lord to bring ladies into my life that would lock arms with me as I ran towards Jesus. Why am I surprised when He brings me just that?
Growing up, I always had Godly friends and ladies in my life, but to say I had a “mentor”, someone to intentionally pour into me one on one, well, that person really never existed. I was perfectly fine with my Christian walk and really didn’t know that I was missing anything. That is until I became a pastor’s wife and until we made a couple of moves in ministry. I heard other ladies talking about their “mentors” and how thankful they were to have someone to walk beside them as they were growing and learning how to juggle it all. Oh how I prayed for the Lord to send me someone that I could confide in, someone who could challenge me and help me go deeper with the Lord, but also someone who could help me be the best wife and mother that I could be.
When you pray, asking for the Lord to do something very specific, don’t be surprised when He does it! The Lord not only brought me one precious friend, but He brought so many ladies to pour into me! I am humbled and honored to serve alongside these three other By Faith She sisters, as we seek to make Jesus known, even through the mess of our daily lives.
You may be just like me, praying for the Lord to send you someone. Keep praying and seeking them out! Don't let pride stand in your way! It’s important for us to have other ladies in our lives to hold us accountable, ask us the hard questions, rejoice with us and cry with us.
Proverbs 27:17 - Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.
I pray that as we begin the By Faith She blog, that you can relate with the journeys we are walking, that you will be challenged by some hard topics we may cover and that you can laugh and cry with us when things just really seem to hit home!
I am so scared, terrified, anxious, and excited to start this journey with you! The Lord is using this blog to stretch me and get me out of my comfort zone. I would be much more comfortable chatting over coffee, but since we can't always do that, please pull up a chair and let's meet here every Tuesday. I hope you will show much grace and come along for the ride, because when Jesus is the center of it, you know it’s going to be fun!
