Since my kids are out of school for Christmas Break, we took a day to get away and visit somewhere we've been wanting to go for a long time. The replica of Noah's Ark, also called The Ark Encounter! And let me tell you, it did not disappoint. In fact, it was much more than I imagined.
Hebrews 11:7 - “By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith.”
From the time you pull into the parking lot, its an unbelievable sight.
This picture gives you an idea of how large the ark is from the ground below. Everyone in our group had a different perspective. Some thought it was much bigger than they had imagined, others thought it would have been even bigger. For me, I had always imagined it would be very large, but actually seeing the size in person put the work that Noah and his sons did into perspective. It could only be a work done with the help and direction of God.
Once inside, my mind was blown over and over with answers to questions I hadn't even thought of. Like with this picture below. Did you ever even think about how the people and animals would have eaten or drank on the ark? They would have had to have space to store the food and water for themselves and every single animal. It might have looked something like this.
I loved that throughout the replica ark there were questions and answers that many might have about the reality of the ark and of God Himself. They give facts and proof with the work of science and history, to help us see the truth of The Bible.
There is even an area dedicated to showing us ways that Satan tries to discredit the reality of the ark. He can't make it fiction, but all he really has to do is make us believe that its fiction.
My favorite thing the Ark Encounter does through various videos and displays, is continually point to Jesus. This is a real life size replica of the door that would have been in the side of the ark where the animals would have entered. It was so cool to stand next to it and see just how big it was. But the cool thing is that there is a sign next to the door explaining how Jesus is the door to salvation.
If you choose to venture outside, you will encounter a small petting zoo, including a donkey and camel ride. Another outdoor activity is the zipline. It looks like a lot of fun, but it was just too cold while we were there. This is one of my kiddos enjoying the petting zoo.
There is not much around in the nearby towns regarding food or shopping, but there is a very reasonably priced restaurant on the property of the Ark Encounter. They even had gluten free options!!! There is also a gift shop if you'd like to take home pictures or souvenirs from your visit.
As shown above and below, our Ark Encounter ended with a free Christmas light show. It was beautiful and a very neat experience.
If you get the chance to visit The Ark Encounter, GO! It is definitely worth the trip as well as the price.
