Away in a Manger/Mary Did You Know - Audra's pick
I know, I know, I’m only supposed to pick my top 1, but I have good reason. When I was a child, Away in a Manger was my favorite Christmas song. It painted a picture in my mind of the reality of the Christmas story. As I’ve gotten older, Mary Did You Know has painted that same picture in my mind of the reality of Jesus as a baby, but also of who He would become as our Savior.
I Believe by Natalie Grant - Laura's pick
This song is always on repeat in our car at Christmas. If I am honest, we have been listening to it since about July! It's about truly believing in the Christmas story and what Scripture says is TRUE! My favorite line in the song is, "I believe in a Cross, I believe He came for one He came for ALL!" I am so thankful for that baby in a manger that would ultimately give His life on the Cross for you and for me!
Hallelujah by Cloverton - Rebecca's pick
My official welcome to the holiday season always begins on November 1 with this song. I cannot wait to flip the calendar page and anticipate the season ahead! Since this is my favorite Christmas song, it is the first thing that gets turned on. The story of Christ is set so beautifully to music - all the way from His birth to the rugged Cross - and it gives me chills every time. The kids love it, too! We listen to it over and over and never grow tired of it.
O Holy Night - Tammy's pick
Every since I can remember, this one song has filled me with awe. The rich lyrics coupled with the soaring octaves get me every single time I hear it. As the years pile on, the weightiness of the words humble me with their truth: Long lay the world in sin and error pining; Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth; A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices. It truly is a piece of heaven. How fitting as it's all about heaven's gift this Christmas, Jesus.
Heart of Christmas by Matthew West- Laura's pick
I love Christmas music. It is hard to narrow it down to one song. One of my favorite Christmas traditions is going Christmas caroling and singing all the traditional songs with our church family. On the way there we always listen to the Matthew West Christmas CD The Heart Of Christmas. This is my favorite Christmas CD. My favorite song on this album is Heart of Christmas. This song came out to go along with the movie Heart Of Christmas. The year the movie/song came out, my husband and I ran in the St. Jude Half Marathon that year. This song touches my heart in a special way and reminds me “wherever you are, no matter how far, come back to the heart, the heart of Christmas.” Its simple message, “ live while you can, cherish the moments, the ones that you love, make sure they know it, and don’t miss it, the heart of Christmas.”
