One thing our family likes to do at the holidays is make memories through special experiences. I do realize that not all of our readers are in the West Tennessee area, but a good number of you are, so I wanted to share some of our favorite places (within a couple of hours) to go as a family. With our kids being three and nine, the wonder of the Christmas season still twinkles in their eyes! Christmas lights, hot cocoa and carols bring a smile to their faces and joy to their hearts...wow, maybe I have been watching too many Hallmark movies! Ha! We don't do all of these every year and it's been several years since we have been to some of them, but they are all ones that we enjoy each time we go!
Gaylord Opryland's A Country Christmas - We just visited Opryland a couple of weekends ago! From ICE, to eating dinner inside the resort while watching the Delta Fountain Show, it's beauty will leave you in the Christmas spirit!
Lights of the Delta - It has been several years since we visited Lights of the Delta over in Arkansas, but it was always worth the drive. We would pile several families into vehicles and head across the river. The drive through the light show is amazing and the kids always love stopping half way through to grab a snack and hot cocoa!
Patti's 1880's Settlement - Considering this is close to where I grew up, Patti's is always a must at Christmas! Reservations must be made and usually pretty early. If the food wasn't worth it enough, the over one million lights on 3 1/2 acres is a must see!
Discovery Park of America - What a gem of a place we have in West Tennessee! This is one of the most cost effective excursions on the list. At only $5 per car, it's something affordable that will result in lots of memories!
Toys and "things" will fade, but memories are something families will never forget! So let all the "to-do" lists take back seat, pile everyone in the car and head out on a fun Christmas adventure.
