It’s snow day number four and we have basically been in the house since it began. I don’t know about you, but it’s time for the kids to put down the video games and DO something! We've played in the snow, but with as cold as it is, it only last an hour or less at a time. We need some indoor activities that don’t involve tv or computer screens. Here are a few ideas that I’ve come up with. Hope it will help you too!
1.) Do some kid friendly cooking! We are making homemade applesauce in the crockpot tonight. The kids can peel the apples and add all the ingredients: 6 peeled apples, 1/2 cup water, 1 tsp. ground cinnamon (you can add sugar as desired). Cook in the crockpot on low for 7-8 hours. Ours will be cooking while we sleep so we can eat it for breakfast.
2.) Make slime. I’m not sure if the slime craze has hit your house yet but we have made many, many batches. There are plenty of recipes online that use ingredients you probably already have around the house. Or, if you can safely get to Target, and you feel like braving the cold, they have “slime kits”. These are really fun because you can make all different kinds of slime. (Glow in the dark, translucent, glittery...). We got one of these for Christmas. Not only does making the slime take time, but then they will definitely want to spend some time playing with it. Oh, edible playdough would be fun too! I’ll have to look for a recipe.
3.) Here is a link to a really fun Christmas craft. You could use heart shaped cookie cutters to make homemade Valentines.
I’d love to hear your ideas of what your family does on snow days! No really! Please! Share your ideas!
