So, I hear there’s a big walkout planned for tomorrow, March 14, 2018. Have you heard about it? It is taking place on 2,853 school campuses at 10 am. Students will simply walk out of their classrooms and stand outside for 17 minutes.
They say that the purpose is to pay tribute to the 17 victims of the recent school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. But, it is mainly being staged as a protest to send a message to Congress that students are demanding stricter gun control laws.
Oprah commented on the planned walkout on CNN recently by saying,
”You can’t just go down there and march. There’s a strategy to the marching. There has to be a very clear intention behind what you’re doing and why you’re doing it.”
This comment got me thinking. "If there’s a strategy behind this walkout, what is it? What is the clear intention behind it? Is it a haphazard gathering of high school students who simply want to speak up for safety concerns? Or, is a bigger force steering the ship?"
A couple of clicks on Google, and I found my answer. Oprah was right. This walkout has been strategically planned by a very strategic group of people. You may remember them from when they wore pink knit hats that resembled female genitalia and marched on Washington shouting vile words into a microphone in January 2017. They are hardly forgettable.
This group of protesting women, collectively known as The Women’s March, under their youth division titled Empower, are the ones behind the 17-minute walkout that is happening tomorrow. It is a highly-organized, highly-motivated body that seeks to:
By preying on the students’ raw emotions, pointing a big finger at the gun industry instead of at the deeply disturbed minds and lonely hearts of the ones’ pulling the trigger, these women are convincing our students that this walkout is a noble endeavor.
And, most dangerously, these pink hat wearing angry protestors are successfully disguising themselves as compassionate and loving advocates. The fact that they march for, defend, and celebrate abortion tells me that compassionate and loving advocates of children they are not. They cannot preach and protest safety in schools and totally and blatantly disregard safety in the womb. In no world can these two ideas justifiably co-exist. Not ever.
Also, a quick glance at the Empower sponsor list tells us a bit more. They are sponsored by Teen Vogue. You may or may not know of their recent articles (that are marketed to girls ages 11-17) titled A Guide to Anal Sex and What to Get a Friend Post-Abortion. What??? They are 11!!!
Empower is also sponsored by Rock the Vote. Do you see where this is going?
And yet, every student who walks out of school tomorrow is one more potential future voter in their pocket.
Oprah also stated,
“Do not give your energy to the other side. Do not spend all your time talking about your opponent. Do not give your energy to that which you really don’t believe in. Do not spend an ounce of your time on that.”
Who are these opponents that she is speaking of? Congress? Teachers and administrators? Parents? No, they are none of the above. Ephesians 6:12 defines who our real opponent is:
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
If we heed her advice, ignoring and denying the powers of darkness, then our adversary, our chief opponent, will sneak in and snatch whatever he wants before our very eyes. And, like Empower, he also has an obvious intention. John 10:10 tells us exactly what that is:
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.”
So, instead of ignoring the spiritual forces of evil that are obviously turning our schools into their playgrounds, we need to teach our children how to maximize their 17 minutes tomorrow effectively. Instead of creating a walkout mentality that will only encourage children to walkout on school today and responsibilities, marriage, parenting, and life tomorrow, we need to encourage a “Step-Up” mentality.
By stepping up instead of walking out, each student will be empowered to create long-lasting and effective changes that begin inside of the heart, where true change originates.
In the Bible, the number 17 symbolizes "overcoming the enemy" and "complete victory." By maximizing their 17 minutes tomorrow and every day after that, students can overcome this present and prevalent evil among us by stepping up and disarming it one day and one very intentional act at a time.
"No weapon forged against you will prevail."
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."
