This is Pastor Appreciation Week (seriously who knew? A friend told me). I thought it would be nice to share some ideas of things you can do for your pastor. I’ve got the inside scoop! (Wink. Wink.)
1. It may sound cliché, but believe me when I tell you, the best thing you can do for your pastor is pray for him! I receive text messages and written letters from time to time telling me how a church member is praying for my husband and praying for our family. And, because I believe so strongly in the power of prayer, it truly blesses my heart to know someone else is petitioning the Lord on our behalf.
What should you pray? Well I’m glad you asked!
2. Encourage your pastor! Tell him you are praying for him! Write a note, send a text, or tell him face-to-face. Ultimately, he’s working for the approval of the Lord, but knowing that his work is making a difference in your life can be a huge encouragement for him to press on, especially on the difficult days.
3. Love and serve the Lord and others well. It brings joy to any pastor to have fellow believers to serve with who love Jesus and who want to joyfully spread that love to others.
Consider these simple ideas that could make a huge impact in the life of your pastor and in turn for God’s Kingdom!
Audra and her husband Jordan are called to ministry and he is the senior pastor at their church. They have two beautiful children who bring them tons of joy, lots of laughs, and on occasion new grey hair. She is a former teacher who still loves to teach, enjoys cooking and baking, and has a passion to lead other women to know Jesus and live out their faith in Him.
