Meet Micah. She is nine years old and the most loyal prayer warrior that I know.
For the past three years, she has been fervently praying that the Lord would give her a baby sibling. It has been a constant request on her lips.
Every year when she blows out the candles on her birthday cake, she is praying. Every morning when her class observes a moment of silence at school, she is praying. Every night when she is tucked into bed, she is praying.
Her prayer has filled journal pages, prayer request cards, and has been spoken at any given chance to share. It has been constant, even as the Lord seemed to remain quiet.
At first, we laughed at her request. “How sweet,” we thought. “It’ll pass.” But, it didn’t. Her desire grew and grew. And thus, so did her prayers. She never wavered in unbelief that the Lord would fulfill this deep desire in her heart. And, it became contagious.
So, we began praying with her.
All this time the Lord has been building her faith bit-by-bit. When He remained quiet, she pressed in. She did not give up. She continued to trust, just as a child does, and believe that the Lord would bend His ear to her.
And, He did. After three years of praying without ceasing, the Lord has granted her heart’s desire.
We kicked off my 41st birthday yesterday by announcing to her that God has created life in her mama’s womb. He has indeed granted her request.
Her reaction was the most precious thing that I have ever seen. She knows this child is a gift from the Lord. No doubt.
Her new prayer is that this child will grow healthy and strong and stay safely tucked in her mama’s womb. Will you please join her in this prayer?
We know from her example that God hears. May her faith increase yours and inspire you to press in and keep trusting God with your deepest heart’s desires.
First, I am a child of God. And, like a child, I am always learning and growing. The more I know Him, the more I love Him. Second, I am a wife to a good man. Missions is his thing while teaching women to love God’s Word is mine. Third, I am a mama to three plus a sweet cockapoo who thinks he’s #4. My children are my ongoing sanctification. Fourth, I am a dreamer/designer. Old friends call me Becky, newer ones call me Rebecca, and the most intimate ones call me Beck. You can just call me friend.
